Firm adds Greg Johnson as COO and Chief of Staff while tapping former Wisconsin Deputy Insurance Commissioner J.P. Wieske as Vice President of State Affairs
WASHINGTON, DC (February 7, 2019): Horizon Government Affairs continues to scale up its operations with the additions of Greg Johnson as Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff and J.P. Wieske as Vice President of State Affairs.
Greg Johnson previously served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), where he developed and implemented forward-leaning policy, public affairs solutions, and campaigns on behalf of the Pharmacy Benefit Managers industry. His advocacy work spans more than two decades at both the federal and state levels within public and commercial programs.
As COO and Chief of Staff, Johnson will bring his deep knowledge of insurance and pharmaceutical industries – including issues such as drug pricing, access, coverage, and reimbursement – to continue HGA’s rapid growth while managing the firm’s winning team.
J.P. Wieske most recently served as Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the State of Wisconsin, where he supervised the regulatory, public information and administrative functions of the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance. Wieske also served on Governor Scott Walker’s Opioid Task Force and served as an active member of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, where he chaired various subgroups including the Regulatory Framework Task Force and the Health Care Reform Alternatives Working Group.
As Vice President of State Affairs, Wieske will lead HGA’s continued expansion into state policy; enhancing client access to state regulators, legislators, and executives while leveraging his more than 25 years of industry experience to drive smarter state policy reforms.
“With the additions of Greg and J.P. to our bipartisan team, we continue to showcase HGA’s ability to attract top talent and leverage their expertise to deliver results for our clients and coalitions,” said HGA President and founder Joel White.
HGA’s addition of Johnson and Wieske comes as the firm continues to grow its broad base of clients and coalition members, reaching more than 200 diverse organizations. Last fall, it announced the additions of Emily Shetty, Esq. as Vice President of Advocacy and Allison Wils, Esq. as Vice President of Strategy.
