Inside Health Policy spoke with Joel White about recently introduced legislation that has reporting requirements for pharmacy benefit managers, steps to keep insurers’ prior authorization in check and limits on Medicare Part D plans’ cost-sharing amounts for beneficiaries after they’ve reached their plan’s deductible beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
“The bill does not, however, share the same plausibility of being passed on a bipartisan basis as other broad health care and PBM-specific transparency bills passed by some committees earlier this year, according to Horizon Government Affairs President & CEO Joel White.
White told Inside Drug Pricing one reason in part for the potential split vote may be that Ways & Means ranking Democrat Richard Neal (MA) is on the side of hospitals, which are against several of the other provisions in the bill.
After Wednesday’s markup, White says House lawmakers during their recess will have to reconcile which pieces of the Energy & Commerce, Education & the Workforce and Ways & Means committee bills will be melded into a final health care transparency package likely to be voted on by the full chamber in September.”
